It’s Not Too Late to Enter This Year’s NPPW Video Contest!

OWN IT on March 17 – 23 and take ownership of poison prevention.

National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW), the third week in March each year, is a week nationally designated to highlight the dangers of poisonings and how to prevent them.  However, every day people can and do prevent poisonings. We invite you to become actively involved in helping ensure the safety of children and adults in your home and your community.

To help spread the word of this important week, the NPPW Council is holding a contest for grades K – 12. To enter, kids must create a video that helps spread the word about poisoning prevention. Videos must be no longer than two minutes, and should present their interpretation of the theme, Poison Prevention/Safety – Own It, and must be submitted to the contest website by Sunday, February 24th.  Videos can be created by individuals or as a team. Student videos should illustrate a message that communicates ways we can all OWN IT and take responsibility for preventing poisonings.  The following are just a few video theme ideas:

• Storing packages in safe places, away from the reach of children
• Keeping potentially dangerous products in their original protective packaging
• Knowing the phone number for the Poison Control Center 
• Educating loved ones about the dangers of household poisons
